Topic: ABOUT TO PURCHASE VIRTUAL DJ... NEED HELP

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm about to purchase either Virtual DJ or Scratch Live but I need to know if there are any real differences between the two. I'm leaning to the Virtual DJ side because it already has Video and Midi Capability but how does it really perform in terms of latency and stability. I guess my big question is does this crash? I'll be using this program in a Rack Mounted computer with a 1.8 GHZ 64 bit Athlon CPU with 2 gigs of Ram. Do I need more memory than this to confidently use video. Will I need more processing power? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Scratch live is a dedicated vinyl emulation software... Lacks features, but works solid.

VDJ is more a full featured software with lots of features...
Most people here prefer VDJ, thats why we are here;)

But you can try the demo :

Your PC seem more than good enough... but regarding video, your graphic card matters, and you did not post anything about your gfx card.

VDJ can also be used as a stand alone software without using external controllers or time code. about crashes...you have to keep in mind that any software will only be as stable as the Windows, Mac or whatever OS version that it's on this includes having the latest drivers for your hardware and tweaking the OS for your needs
