I am currently using headphones by SONY (MDR-V150) - however the volume is very low and often difficult to hear over the PA system. I have attempted to adjust the volume of the headphone in Windows, which will increase the volume slightly though not greatly. I currently have the headphone volume to maxed in Virtual DJ. Any suggestions?

Thanks

The output of a soundcard is simply to low for a live performance.
You could attach an amplifier with headphone out to your soundcard. Lot of people have a simple amplifier (for home use) unused, so you could get one easily and cheap.
Better option (my opinion) is to use an external mixer. You use the headphone out on the mixer.

Theres really not nothing much u can do to amplify the sound from the soundcard itself...i lifted all the volumes and mines was so low i gave up and did as Superstom said and started using my external mixer....however u can always stop my a radioshack or maybe even a regular music store and try to find a small headphone amplifier

if you are using external mixer, the gain on each channel on the mixer, will determine how high the volume for the headphone cue is ( on most mixers )

Turn down the master out volume, and turn up the gain on the channel in use

The fastest way to fix that is what dj-in-norway said, but what I recomend is buy a soundcard, if its lap top I recomend Sound Blaster Live 24 bit USB External or if it's desktop same but PCI internal both ($49.00 any Circuit City or Compusa store ) then buy yourself a Mixer, the one I have is the Stanton M.202 very nice, hay 3way EQ, 2 line and Phono Inputs, Mic Output, and headphone output ( arround $100.00 ) I think spending arround $150.00 on that is not that expensive, and you will fell a big diference mixing with it.

Peace.
