What's the syntax for "select headphone and active shortcuts" This skin thing is just too much for me.

For the headphone switch is action="select" chan="1" or button action="select" chan="2"

I use syn Text Editor for XML http://syn.sourceforge.net/ and paint.net for the bmp http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/index.html

good old notepad is the easiest for XML , nothing special needed. For the bmp either paint will work.
