Topic: very upsetting this is becoming!!!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Ok i've tried every possible way to hook my djm 800 to this program and having no luck with anybody on this site giving me help? This becoming very upsetting , I've had to do this all by myself with no help from anybody on this staff. I also had this problem with my macbook pro which now i use with vdj now i want to hook my djm 800 up and no one seems to know anything. What kind of dj's are on this site. I am wondering now maybe if i should've of took advice from some of my peers here in nyc and not use this program. I've already spun without it at avalon and crobar only as an opening dj but still it's better than most of people on here. I'm not trying to brag or anything but you would think this tech support staff would help someone on the brink of making it. Some one that can show people out there that this program is for real and real dj's real pro dj's can use this. It just feels like no one knows anything but if you go to other sites of other programs they seem to be able to help you. Alll i ask is help and then i can help others if they buy one to. I'm not asking much but at least someone give me a bone or somthin

It's even more upsetting that you choose to upset the community when you basically call us useless when we are not paid to provide any assistance. True there are staff here but after searching your posts it appears they have already tried to help you, why do you keep making new posts?

You already have an answer, it's not yet possible to use the midi functions to control VDJ, maybe it will be added in a future revision.

Maybe you're right, we don't know anything, the 50,000+ posts in this forum are imaginary.. (I'm being sarcastic) perhaps you should be more specific with what you ask?

You can't use the DJM 800 as a midi controller for VDJ, yet.. but you can use it as an external mixer, there is an option in VDJ's soundcard configuration page, you will either need two soundcards or a soundcard with at least 4.1 outputs.

And like said before. If you are an early bird, having very new equipment, there is hardly no information available. If I had this mixer I could probably test things for you and help you, but I don't have it. I think nobody here on the forum has this mixer yet, as I never heard anyone about it. I'm sorry, but at this moment your on your own. If other users got this mixer in the future, they could help you, or maybe you could help them.
You could also conatct Pioneer, while they made this mixer.

MyRaneTTM57 controls SSL just fine :-),... sorry couldn't resist. Seriously though, I hope you get this figured out. Seems such a waste to have all those sweet midi functions goin to waste.

You could use VDJ with your mk2 and your pioneer mixer:
Follow the manual of dj-in-norway to hook up your mk2 to your mixer. Then you use your mixer just as mixer (you don't use the midi controls) and you use your mk2 for controlling VDJ (Play, Cue, jog wheels, etc).
This works almost the same as you later are using your cdj's. You only don't spin cds, but songs from your pc.

pioneer tells me to use their cpu program which i will not. I do believe in this program and i dont want to upset any of you. You have to look at it from other people point of view. I'm not only one that fells this way i'm just the one who finally said something. Sorry if this offended someone or vdj

Use the advanced soundcard configuration described in detail -here-. After doing this make sure you have everything wired correctly and that you don't have the gain on your mixer set to 0.

First off, you are using VDJ in a non-straight forward way, Why through a MacBooK? Need to look 'cool' by using a mac? Get a decent Intel Laptop at half the price running windows natively and you'll be better off IMO.

Second setting up MIDI should not be that hard, use the config to link any of the available functions to a button or fader on the DJM800 by pressing/moving it and telling VDJ what to do when that MIDI sequence is sent from the DJM.. What is there to explain about that?

Lastly, I fail to see the point in using the great DJM800 (ever tried one next to a DJM600? the difference in sound is scary..) as a MIDI controller.. Kinda like the carriage pushing the horse along.. There is better suitable mixers for what you are trying to do (although they would require and upgrade to the MIDI implementation in VDJ.
