I have mp3 files that have the _ and ( ) characters. I find it annoying. Is there a software I can use to get rid of these characters automatically? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

i use tag&rename it's a great program and u can specify how u want the file to be renames...but if all u want to do is eliminate underscores u can use batch file renamer ...after u install it right click the folder the mp3's are in and you'll see batch rename from there check off change underscores to spaces

Are all of the programs posted for audio files with id3 tags only?

Does anyone know of a program that can perform tag & rename operations on mpg & vob files?

Currently, I use some of the advanced features of excel to create the filenames automatically in this format:

ARTIST - SONG [ BPM - POALBUMDATE - GENRE - CONTENT Y/N]

That would be really cool if I could select 50 ripped files and a text file with 50 corrasponding filenames from my excel doc and save me a few hundred mouse clicks.

By the way, if anyone wants a copy of the excel file I've created, please let me know.

IDEAS?

You can't tag vob and mpg files because the file format does not support it, but any batch file renamer that supports character conversions should be up to task. I would personally just write a one-liner perl command to do the renaming, but you'd have to know a bit of perl to do that.

actually tag&rename can put tags on mpg files...but after u do so the file wont read as mpg so you'll have to remove the tags (i did it by accident awhile back)

Think he means if there is a program that rename the files, not tag them, correct?
I don't know of any that does, if such scripts exist. But if someone have an easy solution of renaming video files of various formats, please share with the community.
