Topic: ex monitor support

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Two things:
First does anyone know of external video cards that have decent specs and can be used for VDJ
be it PCMCIA slot, firewire, usb 2.0 or what have you i was looking at this
http://www.digitaltigers.com/notebook-docking-stations.shtml
but it is a bit pricy

Second is virtual dj able to assign moitors like it assigns sound cards like monitor 1 is side A and monitor 2 is side B and the main monitor shows the program.
Also does virtual dj have a plugin or feature where it can display effects like windows media player does when it is only playing audio file so screen is displaying something and isnt blank

Just some ideas THX

You can use less expensive laptop docking stations to get another video output. One I used to use is the Mobility EasiDock 1000EV. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8772694236
In fact, I have one that is collecting dust that I might be persuaded to part with ;)
That 'side car' you mention looks nice and gets me thinking .... but is too pricey.
There isn't per-deck multi-monitor support anyway, though it could be done with specialized skins.

As for visual ambient effects, that is already built into VDJ. VDJ supports Sonique visuals. Go to the download section and you can find dozens of them zipped up for quick download. They are very similar the WMP visuals, but some are much better, though some are very simple. A benefit is that most are sound active, so they sync to your music.
