Topic: problems with virtual dj with external mixer

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

notice that when i hookup virtual dj with my Pioneer external mixer that the volume levels are extremely high and the sound quality is very veyr poor.

would this be related to the 'limiter' option.

ive checked sound levels thru sndvol32 and they are normal
.
any advice as this makes it impossible to mix with external mixer..

thanks

If the limiter is disable, you should check that the gain in VDJ is not over 0 db.

By this way, you will be sure that VDJ will produce a good sound.

If the sound still poor, try to reduce the output level of your sound card, maybe it give more than it should.

Look at the incoming level on your Pioneer (PFL) to check that it is not over 0 db too.

You should find the good setting, VDJ and an external mixer is really powerfull !

Good Mix :)

Try the advice I have writed here.

If the level displayed by VDJ is under 0db, the problem come from your sound card output levels.

Otherwise, reduce the gain in VDJ to go under 0db.
(That is what the limiter do, it take care that you don't go over 0db)

Hello,

I work in club with VDJ and a Rodec mixtable. My output from VDJ are at max (with limiter "on") and my soundcard too. I control the gain directly on the mixtable (at 50% aprox.) for each input and I have a very good sound.

Hope this help

will try all these things and advise you of my outcome.

is it possible my mixer could be fuxx0red, or would that produce a different error??

because the sound is really shitty quality

Sound Blaster Audigy
and
Sound Blaster 128bit

I work with a Sound Blaster PCI 512 (same as a SB Live)

..just for be sure...check if you are connected in: cd/aux/line-in on your mix table, you can't use a turntable input to connect VDJ

*sorry to kick you when you're down* NOT! ;o)

"Phono" IS actually a nick for the rca connectors you use, coming from your pc at your adaptercable..
But Pioneer really meant this name on the input to describe a "turntable"..
Some kinda big piece of machinery which looks like a hightech pancake slicer... this sends out a very weak little signal, which also has to be corrected through a riaa circuit to perform correctly.
But when you connect this excellent device (SL1210 with a good needle perhaps?)to a decent setup, and lay down a big vinyl disk with a good groove - it'll open up your ears!
Opposed to your mp3's, and even cd's this device can reveal what really happened in the studio it was recorded..
(guess i'm talking about analog recordings here...)

Like watching the depth of field and details on a 70mm film, opposed to a dvd on a lcd home projector!

Errr... Sorry guys! I got a little carried away and dizzy of the solution to this problem!!

Keep up the good work!

Just to correct you there MATE, i never said it was a problem with Virtual DJ, and i most certainly did NOT post in the bug forum. instead i was asking for advice in a non-angry way, and i was glad i got this sorted.

so save your bulls*it for a NON-paying customer of Virtual DJ. as a paid up and registered user, i think ihave the right to ask simple questions, whether they be my fault or not!!!

Marius le malin,

Yes you have paid for your software but it’s not a reason to be sarcastic with the other users.

This problem resolved, I close this topic
