frrom my experience VDJ has some problems when trying to open licenced WMA's. Try and check this first

but i remeber befor i format my windows that Virtaul dj1.08 played wma files ... and my windowsMP was also 8 .. so i dont know what happend.

you dont need .. the Windows Media player ..you only need the Windows media player 9 runtime codecs .. and i remember i got thos from a software . but im sure you can find thoise around the net

you can download the codecs which will allow you to run wma without WMP9 installed from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/2/e/72e9d6eb-3412-414b-b93f-85d851e01cfb/WM9Codecs.exe
just download and excecute the program
