You can benifit from browsing the forums, and even asking questions, but you can't get upgrades, or download effects and such. In fact, I think even many of the skins might not work with mix station.
Your best bet might be to download the demo and see all the improvements, then decide if you think you might be better if you buy Atomixmp3 version 2.2.

dj mixstation is an old version of atomix created by atomix team and sold to the e-jay company.So there is no responsibility of the atomix team for further updates...
