Topic: Static / crackling noise with 2.1

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have a laptop (p3 500; 256ram) running winxp pro with the new M-Audio Sonica Theater USB sound card.

I get what sounds like crackling, but may be the notorious skipping problem everyone is spraying about.

What DMA settings are reccomended for the hard drive, is hardware acceleration an issue, and are there any other remedies for avoiding these problems?

If you are using 2.1 upgrade to 2.2
 
Will upgrading improve this problem, specifically?

 
Not for sure but possibly. Upgrade and we will find out :)
 
I will also suggest, if upgrading doesn't solve the problem, to play around with the hardware acceleration.

Upgrading seemed to improve the problem. I'm psyched!!

I've used traktor dj studio 2, and it's got some great features, most notably midi control capability. But, alas, Atomix is easier, more intuative, and comfortable to use. I prefer it. I just hope they continue to incorporate features of other software...
