Currently setting up my hardware needs to accommodate VDJ use on my notebook. Was planning to transfer about 20G of mp3 files to the hard drive BUT I've read of folks like DJ Rick having less buffer/access probs. by storing on an external hard-drive... Would my RIO Karma 20G mp3 player suffice or should I look at a dedicated hard-drive (e.g. Archos ARCDISK)? I'll be running an external (Audigy NX) soundcard.

I am using a Maxtor external 250G drive (Onetouch drive), with USB2 and Firewire. I always use the USB port with my laptop. I also use a Hercules DJ Console. This works ok.
Make sure the drive is USB2. I used my drive on a USB 1.1 port once, but that is quite slow.
