Hi All

I am back with a new laptop I get a hum when I use the ac power and the line out on my laptop , but there is no hum when ac power is not used. Is there a fix for this? Other then
not useing the ac power.

Use a 2 prong adapter if so...

using an external hard drive?

What usb devices are plugged in also ? I got a bad hum from my cable modem through usb.

I will try the 2 prong adapter. Yes I use a external hard drive but it does the same with it or not.The only other usb device is my mouse.

It's a grounding issue.

The problem is called a "ground loop" and is caused by the power supply circuit design of the new laptop. I had the same issue with my new laptop which was the same HP brand as my previous laptop which never had the problem.

I don't think it's a good idea to run on 2 prong without proper ground.
