The first 2 ideas are great but, I have have good news for you !! The playlist does show the bpm, just click the cell allignment at the top of the playlist to reveal more colums.

Haven't tried this out since I mostly drag the slider (all except the pitch-slider) but I realise the problem:
There isn't any possibilty to make a shortcut for smoother adjustments just like with the pitchslider..
How about an extra set of shortcuts:
* Crossfader smooth left/right
