Topic: Long Loops

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have seen discussion here in the past about the desirability of having the capability to use longer loops in Atomix. It seems there is always a claim that this would use too much processing power or memory.

I don't know what system my Pioneer CDJ-700 player uses but you can loop the entire CD if you want to and it certainly does not have any substantial processing power behind it. All you do is set the start cue point for a loop, set the end point and let it run. You can then edit the two points to adjust the length of the loop.

If all you need is a command to remember a start and finish cue point and then play the data between them repeatedley why should it require a lot of memory? I don't see that you need to buffer all that data, just where to start and finish and repeat the cycle.
