Topic: Cool IDEA: alternate cdfs.vxd+Atomixmp3

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Atomixmp3 2.0 not support CDA files (in this moment)

I try to use alternate cdfs.vxd for open cda files in wav mode directly from cd in different qualitys.

But this alternate cdfs.vxd don't work properly in W98 SE (in W98 yes). If cdfs.vxd original is changed in W98SE i obtained nice BSOF (Blue Screnn of Death).

What´s is the problem?

Thanks....

I've actually been using the alternate CDFS.vxd for a few months now so I can play songs off CD's I haven't gotten around to ripping yet. I've had mostly good luck with it, but I have my reservations:

1. Can only play 1 file from 1 cd at a time (I have 2 CD drives.)

2. When starting a file off a CD using the VXD file, it sometimes skips, crackles, or won't play at all....fatal during a gig. Might be my system.

3. Looping a CD file with the VXD in 2.0 doesn't seem to be as accurate as with files stored on the HD.

Any suggestions?

performance should be mostly dependant on the DAE speed of your drive (http://www.cdspeed2000.com/)

You must keep in mind that the audio is in 'wave', and is more problematic to play from cd (even normal, not just audio) - meaning you can't play 2 songs at a time from 1 cd without skips (not on any cd drive i know?) due to slow seeking latency of cd drives.
