Topic: Atomix on laptop with usb or pcmcia sound

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am intending to buy a laptop and use atomix with 2 outputs: onboard sound and pcmcia or usb. Or can I use 2 outputs from a single usb or pcmcia solution?
Who has experience with running atomix from a laptop? Will it work?
Who has recoomendations about which brand of laptop, onboard sound chip, usb sound card, and pcmcia sound card to buy?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Best regards,

Arie in 't Veld

i used it on a "Gericom Supersonic" and a "Dell Inspiron 8100"
with 2 usb soundcards from "HAMA" (Germany)

it runs fine with disabled master tempo :-)

Hi UwB,

thank you!
did you use 2 (!) usb audio devices on one (!) laptop?
If so, can they be exactly identical? (as you know, when using two normal pci sound cards of the same type, windows tends to get confused, like when using two SB Lives.)
And can you tell me the name of the usb sound cards, and where I could buy them?

Thank you in advance,
Arie

Hi all!

I will be very pleased if someone find a solution for a laptop. I want to mix also with 2 soundcards and external mixer and a laptop. Have you tried a digigram laptop card? I think they are expensive and I would like a cheaper solution.

See you

Hi Whily,

I had seen your earlier post about these products.
Do you have any experience with them? Do they work well with atomix?
Specifically, you seem a fan of the emagic product. Will atomix recognize it as providing two output channels, so that I can use only this single dvice, and connect its two outputs (!) to the two channels on my external mixing table?

Bye,
Arie
