Topic: ? about Serato library while I try out VDJ

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I did some light searching and couldn't find a topic that answers my question, so my apologies if this has been explained...

If I analyze my library, will that affect anything when I use Serato? If so... how would I go about keeping my Serato library intact/untouched as I play with VDJ?

If I add metadata within VDJ, will that do anything like cause Serato to not find/see the track?

thanks!

You don't need to worry. VDJ will not change your files.

When it scans your library, all the information is written to the VDJ database, not your files.

You can choose to save changed tags to the files, but it's not default behaviour.

The problem is really the othee way around. VDJ won't change your tracks unless you explicitly ask it to
But Serato is much more brutal. It can change tracks so much that they become unrecognizable to other software. And you have very little control over what it does.
I personally never let Serato touch the files in my main music library. When using it I only let it work on copies, which I can then delete after use
