Just updated my hard drive on my Mac book. I’m able to get into VDJ as before. However now sound only plays using laptop speakers. When I turn controller off and back on I see the notifications it’s plugged in. When I go to setting audio there is no option to pick my controller. Any idea what is causing this?

It would help if you told us what controller it is.
If it needs drivers, you need to install them.

And most likely allow them to run as well through OS security
