When in English :
search_options "artist" works fine
When in French : search_options is using both English and localized fields names
"Artist" translate to "Artiste"
search_options "Artiste" do work ... but english word "Artist' don't anymore
Possible reason "Artist" is part of "Artiste" ?
browser_sort have similar feature but escape this issue :
Browser_sort "artiste" and Browser_sort "artiste" both working
IMHO ... english version is far to be enough in scripts (knowing issues with utf-8 in editors)
in every cases, english may take preference to localized

Originally, the search option is called 'author', but when English is selected, it is 'translated' to 'artist'.
It was probably author in vdj 7 and earlier, but has been aligned with the names of columns in v8.
To keep older translation files working the name of the entry is still author however.
You can check English.xml (Search and Columns entries) to see the original names that are safe to use in scripts regardless of selected language.

Ok funny :)
"artist" works in english only but the official english column name is "author"
so that artist is not working anymore with other languages files but english
and "author" is the hardcoded one to be use in scripts with any language
<columns> apply to browser columns
<Artist>Artist</Artist>
<Search> apply to search options
<Author>Artist</Author>
thanks
