I have had my license/serial number since V.2.4 and stopped upgrading around V.5.something (it worked so I didn't mess with it).
Just for grins, I upgraded to the new V8.something and in an effort to get rid of the video logo branding, I realized after logging in that I am using the free version.
When I come back here to enter the license number, it says it is already registered and it won't allow me to enter my number on Settings/Current license.
Do I have to buy another license just to upgrade again?

No license registered at your account.
Maybe you registered the license at other account you have here?
If so you can contact support and see if they can figure it out.... https://www.virtualdj.com/help/
But.. If it was not a PRO license, you need to get a new license. Super old limited version license might not have free upgrades still ;-) its been two decades almost since version 2 probably...

This is the only account that I have ever had so that is not an issue.
And I don't recall it being called a PRO at the time but I drank the kool-aid and bought the only full version that was available.

If its a Pro (full) version of the past, and you still have the serial number, you can always contact Support and they can look it up. https://www.virtualdj.com/help/
