wasnt there a program on the downloads page that would temp turn off or shut down unneeded processes on the cpu allowing it to run better and crash less

There's indeed no need for this. VirtualDJ already prevents automatic sleep/shutdown while it's running.

He wants to remove any unwanted processes, not prevent the computer from shutting down.

If an USB port is in use it will not go to sleep by itself in my experience.
