Topic: Laptop Running VDJ and External HD

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Looking too getting a different laptop. I want to go SSD internal HD. If I do that then lots of my music will need to be on a fast external SSD HD. So my question is, does anyone have issues searching while doing a gig to get your songs?
Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

No issues whatsoever. It's not 2003 any more. Assuming your connection is USB3 and you use a decent (Samsung) SSD.

Why do you say the music will "need to be" on an external SSD? Just make sure than the internal one is big enough to hold the OS plus your music.

Look for a laptop that has an accessible internal drive (hatch on the underside) and you can upgrade it at any time.

I have a 1tb internal SSD and have my entire music and video collection on it with loads of space left over.

Problem is there are DJs out there who have a million tracks they'll never ever play in a 5 hour gig.

There are laptops with 2 m.2 ssd slots available, and m.2 ssd's are available up to 4tb now, so you can have 8tb of internal storage as well :)
