Topic: Recording MP4 issue

Please could someone help?
Quite often after I've recorded an MP4 file the picture is 'jerky' and doesn't run smooth, please could someone advise me on what settings are best to use to record an MP4?
It's not an old or slow computer it's a 2 month old iMac.
