Topic: Trim reset with DDJ-1000

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Whenever I load a track the software resets trim to 12 o'clock with a grey indicator to show the hardware position. Can I change the setting so that this doesn't happen and the software stays in the same position as the hardware when I load a deck?

Yes, you could turn off autoGain setting, but that's not advised

Great thanks! Out of interest, why is this not advised? Generally the levels are lower on my hardware so I assume it's not to stop peaking and right now it's currently having the opposite effect.

Autogain helps keep different tracks at more or less the same volumes.
You should therefore only use the gain knob temporarily in case detection was wrong, or in case there's a specific part in the track you want to boost/lower.
Therefore when loading a new track, you would put the knob back to center anyway.

If you permanently want to lower the gain to create more headroom, you should use the zeroDb setting instead.
