Topic: SC2900 no audio
I've just swapped to a new W10 laptop (from W7) and changing to VDJ2018. I'm struggling to get audio via the SC2900s.

So, I've clicked "Use Soundcard" at the Startup screen.

Audio settings are as below

Deck 1 plays through the laptop speaker. Deck 2, no audio from anywhere. The track does 'play' though, unlike V7.4 when the settings are in-correct.

I'm guessing I'm missing something real simple/silly.

Any help appreciated.

Note, MIDI control functions operting as expected. i.e. Play, Cue, Scroll, Select, Pitch, etc etc

It appears that you are using a old/outdated Build of VirtualDJ. Can you please update to the latest available and see if that is still the case ?

If still an issue, can you please follow the steps below and provide the asked info ?

- Open VirtualDJ, goto Settings, OPTIONS tab and set createMidilog to Yes
- Close VirtualDJ
- Delete the file Log report.txt from Documents/VirtualDJ folder
- Make sure your SC2900 is connected and open VirtualDJ
- Close VirtualDJ
- Post here the content of the Log report.txt file you find in Documents/VirtualDJ folder

Did you install the ASIO driver? Assuming of course that the driver (and your Windows) is 64 bit.

Even if not, you shouldn't have "internal soundcard" selected, because the SC2900 is not internal... Is the SC2900 not listed on the drop down audio interface selection?

Will do this as soon as I can.

According to VDJ online setup manual (for sc2900) "Denon ASIO not to be used, due to instability issues". Use windows WASAPI instead. However, I thought it odd that USB soundcard is not select-able.
Should I download the Denon ASIO driver, a genric ASIO driver (if that's even possible) or something else?

Thanks both for your help

Ah, well in that case don't use it! The SC2900 should still be visible to your OS as an audio interface though...

That's pretty weird.. without the ASIO driver installed, there doesn't seem to offer any WASAPI driver, so there is no ..
Audio device found: .... Denon device entry.
Therefor you shouldn't get any Denon entry in Windows Device Manager under "Audio inputs and outputs" either, right ?

This means that you have to install the Denon ASIO driver from Denon legacy downloads (https://www.denondj.com/downloads#legacy - scroll down to SC2900, ASIO driver 2.22)

After you install, there should be (hopefully) a button for Denon SC2900.

Please repeat the procedure above after installing the ASIO driver and provide the content of the Log Report.txt. Really curious to see if the WASAPI will be there now.

So, it was the ASIO driver that had to be installed for WASAPI to be offered ? or something else u did ?

Posted Sat 15 Feb 20 @ 1:43 pm
Hi DJDAD, sorry for long absence, crazy year!!

So yes, it appears Denon ASIO has to be installed for audio to work!?!?!
However, I have a sound issue:
If both controllers are connected, 1 controller suffers from extremely small/minor audio dropouts (almost un-noticelable, but they are there.), however, the very same audio file plays perfectly fine on the other controller.

Now, if I disconnect the other controller, the controller experiencing dropouts now plays the file perfectly fine also.

Note, while trying anything and everything I can think of to solve this (dis-abling/re-enabling drivers etc) I managed to get the issue on the other controller, which I think eliminates a hardware problem, but maybe wrong.

Any thoughts/input appreocated. I've updated everything I can, un-installed re-installed the Denon ASIO driver (definately no sound without it)

Thanks

With both devices connected to usb, open Windows Sound and make sure none of the Denon sound cards are used as default playback devices (so choose your computers built in sound card for playback device), then try again with VDJ

HI DJDAD, thanks so much for a quick response. Great minds, after un-installing relevant USB items in Device manger, the Denon ASIO driver, then carefully re-connecting/installing as per the VDJ hardware instructions for SC2900, still the same :-( However, Windows sounds does show two SC2900s (Pretty cetrtian only one showed before). Windows default sounds set to internal soundcard. Still have the issue.

So, as a last ditch attempt, I tried connecting one SC2900 to a different, as yet un-tried, USB port. The issue moved to new USB port, but is much worse. The audio now very momentarily dips pretty much every second.... and occaisionally skips a beat or crackles.
