Topic: How to use my synthesizer keyboard with knobs sliders and drum pads for VirtualDJ

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi, I quickly came up with an idea that if I use my synthesizer keyboard (KORG taktile, which does not have the synth module inside), plug it by USB cable to my macbook, and then open VirtualDJ, and then map each function to keyboard's knobs, sliders and drum pads.

If this works, then I might be able to pre-listen through the earphone jack of macbook, and send the final VirtualDJ output to the ESi Audio Interface and then my amp. Is this possible?

There is no reason it doesn't work as it exposed a USB midi device
without USB any midi interface can work too if plugged using the midi interface

The only difficulty may reside in the need to map any function by yourself. Hopefully the full KORG taktile MIDI Implementation Chart is downloadable from KORG site
https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/product/0/143/
and VDJ wiki explains how to map a new device
https://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/How%20do%20I%20map%20my%20MIDI%20controller.html

for the AUDIO part simply configure VDJ AUDIO Outputs in setting -> Audio as needed no special difficulty for that

I've previously done it to support key play, color fxs, samples and a few other things
Here is an example of the result:

Is custom MIDI mapping supported in the Home Free version of VIrtualDJ?
