I recorded with VDJ but the volume was very low on the CD, what should my settings be on the controller? Please help.

Your master volume also affects the recording volume, so often it's your master volume not being all the way up while recording
My setup for recording is:
- make sure all my tracks are adjusted to 96db (I do this just after I've bought them)
- turning master volume all the way up in VDJ (and handle volume on a mixer, amp or the active speakers)
- always have my deck volume at 100% for the current master track
- record in highest mp3 format (320 kbps)
- setting zeroDb to -3 db to give me mixing headroom
Then my recording is always around 93 db (96 db from the tracks, -3 db from the setting and fine-adjusted by auto gain
I can then of course adjust this all the way up to 96 db on the mixed track if I like, using something like mp3gain
