Topic: James Hamilton's Disco Page (new web site)

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

DJs of the older generation in the UK may be familiar with the regular Disco (later called BPM) column in Record Mirror, written by the late James Hamilton.

His reviews were (indeed are) legendary, and he was one of the first to mention mixing in the UK press, and publish BPMs with reviews.

Well a new web site has recently been set up to catalogue his reviews, along with links to the music, so you can not only read his words, but also listen to the tracks. It's an ongoing project, with new reviews added regularly.

https://jameshamiltonsdiscopage.com/

This will bring back lots of memories for the older DJs here, and be very educational for the young ones.

The site has been started as a project by a member of the James Hamilton Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/jameshamilton/

Awesome, I'm returning to mixing tracks & have recently started learning how to mix Funk, Soul & Disco so this is just the kind of thing I want to read.

Thanks for posting

There's a way to go yet. It's not until 1979 that the BPMs start to be published, and that's when it gets really interesting.

I've got stacks of his pages (cut from Record Mirror) from the 80s stashed away.
