Topic: Auto Cue - "First Beat" is usually 2nd beat...?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi

I have Auto Cue set to "First Beat", but it most often cues up the 2nd beat.

Sometimes this is the (stronger) snare which falls on the 2nd beat, which makes sense... but much more often, it will cue the second beat of a 4x4 house kick... Ignoring the (usually stronger) first beat.

Anyone else find this? Any thoughts?

Cheers,
VB

Correct the first beat "set_firstbeat" [recommended]

or put hot_cue 1 on the first beat and use cue as your autocue option

If CBG is 1 beat off I would recommend to use "adjust_cbg -1" on a custom button.
This will move the CBG exactly 1 beat to the left of the needle.
"set_firtsbeat" will set the first beat at the exact point of the needle. Which means that most likely you will lose some of the auto-grid detection accuracy if you are not extremely careful to place the needle on the correct spot.

PS: Since most of the time CBG will be 1 or 1/2 beat off I have remapped two buttons on my controller as:
adjust_cbg -0.5 and adjust_cbg +0.5

This way I can easily fix the grid even while the track is live on air

Good tip, thanks for that. Think I will do the same. I have been pausing, moving the needle and using tap. Obviously not live though. :)
