Either record them as mp3 in the first place or use a wave editor like Audacity

it won't let me put it in audacity because the recording isn't .mp3

Audacity imports more than just MP3...
Tell us what format the recordings are in. It's usually possible to convert anything to anything, given the right tools.
Alternatively, use Google. Use the word convert followed by your source format then your destination format.
