Atomix has a global market and is mostly free from external control. Hence it's software is sold in places like China, and it's immune from the Pioneer knife in the back, which is now being done to Serato.
Being independent is a very big thing.

The future seems questionable though, when you have big brands that are taking the best elements of their rivals, throwing a lot of money into development and marketing, have their own hardware, an army of fanboys etc.

The future of VDJ looks to be something of a niche product, unless there's a merge with a bigger brand (very possible, but I have no insight) or the share holders decide to invest their profits on a more aggressive strategy (something which I think is pretty unlikely at this point).
