Topic: Poor Audio Output...HELP! PLEASE!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have an ASUS (Intel Pentium 4.00 GB 64-Bit) laptop that I would very much like to use for practicing my DJ skills. I have Windows 8.1 OS and Virtual DJ 8 (free download) on this laptop. When I first got this computer almost six months ago, I had no sound issues. Now, Whenever I try to mix two tracks, I get a scratchy sound, and the songs eventually either skip, freeze, or the program stops audio output altogether. When I play one song, sometimes, it's ok, but other times, the song freezes up. I can't go on like this. Am I doing something wrong? Could someone explain to me what I need to do to address this issue?

First (best) option - buy a pro external audio interface designed for DJ use.

Second option - adjust settings in VDJ config. Try changing exclusiveAudioAccess, ultraLatency and overclock.

Thank you, but where do you find the settings in the second option? I was able to find the first one, but not the other two.

Tick the "advanced" box on the settings page.
