Topic: Serious fps drop - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Hi,
I am facing a strange issue in virtual dj 8. i use 2 set ups
1. DDJ sx2
2. djm 800 nxs and 2 cdj 2000
when using only audio with these 2 setups, the skin fps in constant at 59. fps. when i enable video the fps drops to 27-28 fps with the sx2 and 19-20 with the cdjs. Also with these 2 setups i get random serious drops below 20 fps and the skin stutters for a few seconds and goes back to normal.
My laptop is a toshiba a665 quad core with nvidia gts 350m graphics card and 8gb ram.
the laptop is optimized for dj use only and wifi is disabled during djing.
Any idea what could be the problem? is this a setting that i need to change or a problem with the hardware?
Thank you and regards

The GTS350M is a very poor graphics card.

Do you have DXVA enabled?

Hi SBDJ
What do you mean by DXVA enabled? the gts 350 is surely a lot faster then intel graphics. i can play some heavy games with it.

goto VDJ config/options and type DXVA on the search field (make sure advance option is check).

greetings, I am presenting the same problem in my setup toshiba laptop i7, 8-core, 6 gb ram, video card, Intel HD 3000 and NVIDIA GT540 1GB, Windows 10 64b

My settings skin is 60 fps and 30 video

Intel HD 3000, with audio and video without Fallen fps supporting up to 60 video, 60 skin, everything works smoothly

NVIDIA GT540, only 59.9 fps with audio, video opening is a lottery, the fps down for both audio and video between 21-23 for both, and occasionally when I have luck in the video is 31 fps and 40 fps skin .

anyone knows because he works so bad to use dedicated video card?

sorry my English is a little bad

To both of you - does everything work OK if you set your fps back to the default of 30 for both?

camplg what is your dxva setting set to?

sorry about that... i checked again and for some reason the DXVA setting was set to no. I switched to yes and everything is running smoothly.

I still have trouble viewing the skin smoothly using the dedicated video card, with DXVA option on or off, in contrast with the integrated card fluides the skin is excellent

dedicated Nvidia GT540 graphics, audio only

dedicated Nvidia GT540 graphics, audio only

dedicated Nvidia GT540 graphics to activate video

Intel HD3000 integrated graphics

Intel HD3000 integrated graphics, audio only

Intel HD3000 integrated graphics, activating video

I would like to solve this problem, it is frustrating the sudden movement of the skin

Also, since everything is working smooth with the Intel, why not use that one?

If you recommend using dedicated graphics to avoid problems, ie that it is best to cross the swamp into a smart to use a 4x4?

If it would indeed be a swamp, you would be able to tell that you got stuck or something like that.
In this case it looks like the swamp has asphalt flat roads however, as you are getting a stable 30fps with the smart.

It is indeed still interesting to find out why performance is worse with the dedicated card though.
Can you try to set videoForceFullScreen to -1 ?

After chacking that the DXVA setting is on while using the sx2, i was able to keep stable fps all the night.
However , yesterday i plugged in a DJM900 nxs and 2 CDJs 2000 and upon activating video, the skin fps dropped to 23 and i was having some stutters with the skin.
Any ideas?
