I'm on a Dell XPS L702x laptop using Windows 7 and Virtual DJ 7 Pro. I'm using a Hercules RMX controller. I've been using this setup for almost 2 years. Sound from only Virtual DJ 7 has always gone to my RMX controller. However, lately, other computer sounds (e.g. iTunes, YouTube, clicking on links, etc.) are going to my controller as well. This is really bad because I don't want extraneous sounds being played at my events. How do I fix this?

i guess the soundcard of your controller is set as windows default audio device on your laptop.
Just ave a look in win system control/ audio and de-select you RMX as default.

i'm pretty sure that in audio options there is an option to give vdj exclisive use to soundcard, therefore muting all other sounds while vdj is open

Make sure you have the RMX selected in options > controllers
