Topic: Virtual Folder Permits Duplicate Track Entries

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

The VirtualFolder feature in VDJ8 permits the user to add duplicate tracks (with same absolute path) to the same VirtualFolder. Considering that a DJ may have many songs (on the order of hundreds or thousands) in a given VirtualFolder, they may not remember that they have added the same track to the VirtualFolder before. The expectation is, if the user has added a track with the same absolute path before, Virtual DJ should not create a duplicate entry in the VirtualFolder. Instead, adding a track to a folder should be an idempotent operation and VDJ should simply not take any further action if an entry already exists in the VirtualFolder.

Reproduction Steps:
1. Add a track at path /a/b/c.mp3 to VirtualFolder A
2. Repeat Step 1
3. Notice that there are now two entries for c.mp3 in VirtualFolder A

It seems to be only a temporary visual issue.
The file is not actually added a second time, so if you open another folder and come back to the virtual folder you'll see that the song is in there only once.
