Topic: Sennheiser HD515 for DJ-ing

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I could get second-hand Sennheiser HD515 pretty cheap, what do you think of those, would they serve good for DJ-ing? I know that they are meant for audiophiles, but how do they turn out for DJ purposes? Do you know if they can be folded to only listen to them with one ear or are they too solid? How do I even know which headphones are good for DJ-ing, except for rotating cuff option?

I'd say they don't look suitable at all.

First, they're an open back design - which means that when you put them on, they won't seal out external sounds.

For DJing, you need closed back design so that you don't hear any external sound when you wear them.

Being for home use, they won't be designed to provide lots of volume either (and the open design will compound that).

Many DJ`s in Germany have the Sennheiser HD 25 DJ,Beats MixR(David Guetta Edition), Pioneer HDJ 500-2000 DJ Models and some others.
Some have Technics and Sony Modells

Iself use a Shure SRH 750 DJ Headphone and iam very happy with this and his Sound ,better we my Old Ortofon O2.
But you must look ant test it by this Model for your Headform,on my Head he sit good, but by other to small.

Here is a good German Information Thread for DJ-Headphones,but in German Speak.
