Topic: Running under user accounts in Windows 7

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello
I have installed VirtualDJ and it requires administrative rights even if I try to install in a user directory. So I installed it as administrator but when I switched back to my user it does not even appear on the Start menu. I tried to install it as user and it fails because it tries to write to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE for some weird reason.

I propose one of two solutions: if the program must write to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and needs admin access, at least have an installation option "make available for all users" which is commonly found on other software. Another solution would be to remove the unnecessary need to write to admin areas of the registry.

Thanks
