Topic: Pioneer DJM-3000 and Denon DN-HC4500 Connections?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I know - this sounds like a post from 2005, but bear with me - I'm a grey-hair coming into the 21st century with my DJ rig...

I am now the proud owner of the following:
- Pioneer DJM-3000 Mixer
- Denon DN-HC4500 Controller
- Denon DN-BU4500 Dual CD Drive
- Laptop running Virtual DJ Pro 8

I now have some connection questions...

I have the Denon HC4500 and BU4500 connected via the control cable. CHECK!

I have the HC4500 hooked up to my laptop via USB. CHECK!

I have the X-Control ports 1 and 2 on the HC4500 connected to the Control ports of the DJM-3000 channels 1 and 2. CHECK!

Which is better/more desirable?
- Hooking the audio output from the HC4500 to channel 1 and 2 and the audio output from the BU4500 to channel 3 and 4
OR
- Hooking the audio output from the HC4500 to channel 1 and 2 CD input (line control switch to the left) and the audio output from the BU4500 to channel 1 and 2 LINE input (line control switch to the right)?

This is my first venture into digital DJing - I have been only using VDJ to spin songs i happen to have on MP3, in addition to using the standard DN-D4500 controller to play CDs. I am looking for suggestions from people with similar/same setups that do mixing than scratching, as that's the direction i am heading

thanks in advance,
DJKib
