Topic: Not possible to retrieve cover art for current song from plugin?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I was told it is not possible for a plugin to retrieve the cover art for a currently playing song. I tried variations of syntax then told not possible. I mentioned that the Title effect can do this but was told that is an internal effect.

So what's the deal on this? Internal effects have more control than plugins?

That is correct, this functionality is not presently exposed via the external plugin API.
