In a future build, can we please have a manual option either via button or menu option which allows us to 'at will', check and download the latest beta build?
Right now, I'm waiting on one of my Mac's to download the latest 1878 (i have 1872 right now), and it's been a few hours and the build is still not downloaded. (I've seen it work much faster in the past.)
It's painful having to wait when I know that I should be able to just get it manually...

VDJ will check and download a beta version at the startup of the programm.
Please check in your account that you checked the box for "get beta builds".
Also check in the settings if "getBetaBuilds" is set to "yes".

Yep, everything is already set. It just seems that it takes about 20 minutes+ to be prompted. A forced menu option would be welcome.

The update download is done silently. The length of time it takes will depend on your connection speed and how busy the servers are.
If you are waiting and need it urgetnly then a restart of your machine might trigger it back into life.
