I went to run VDJ8 and the shortcut said it wasn't linked n(or words to that effect) and asked if I wanted to delete the shortcut? I tried reinstalling and says it is already installed? So where is the original .exe file to create a new shortcut?

should be in OS (C:)/program files/VirtualDj ...along with the v.7 if you had and kept that.I suggest reinstalling it again..
