Something happened after I deleted history from folders list and then went to root elements to add it again

If you go to MyDocuments/VirtualDJ in explorer
Do you have a folder named History ?

Dan, I've followed the steps of jbezz and my History folder is no more either.
The icon for it shows in VDJ but it no longer exists in the VDJ directory.
I copied the folder back from the recycle bin and it's being written to now, but 8 doesn't create a new folder when it starts up, or after a track has played for X time.

Ok, thanks.
So a reinstall would probably solve the issue then as that when these folders are created.
Not sure how many people would delete their history folders anyway, so probably not a major cause for concern.

Well it happened, so it should be a cause for concern. :-)
There should be a warning if someone attempts to delete the folder via the icon in VDJ - "are you sure, this will delete the entire history of everything in the world" etc.
Better still, don't allow the folder (icon) to be deleted. Only allow the history files to be deleted (so change the right click menu to 'clear history').
If left as is, then VDJ should at the very least recreate the folder when the info next needs to be written.

The warning message has been noted that it doesn't appear in the history folder or the playlists folder so the Dev team and aware.
I agree that if it is deleted then it should auto create a new one - perhaps after a re-launch.

Guys, I'm gonna do a reinstall! Just want to know, what, if anything, that I will lose?
Posted Tue 03 Jun 14 @ 11:11 am
Unless you are going to do an update which will recreate history folder as described above. please advise

You will be prompted to uninstall the previous version before it will let you re-install.
Just make sure that you either backup your Virtual DJ Folder (Mydocument/VirtualDJ/...)
Or you will be asked whether you want to delete settings and folders - press NO to this so you don't delete them.

Wait... if I hit "NO' will the install still create a new history folder?
Posted Tue 03 Jun 14 @ 11:16 am
That i am not 100% sure about.
But by pressing yes you may also affect version 7 on your machine.
Try it with NO - if that doesn't help then try this:
Copy the entire Virtual DJ folder and keep it safe.
Uninstall then re-install V8 but this time pressing yes.
Then Copy everything back to MyDocuments/VirtualDJ but DO NOT copy the History folder.
