How many samples do you have that are 8kHz 8 bit mono WAVs?

8-10 but mp3 mono makes problems too

Confirmed that it doesn't like mono files - but worse, after failing to play the file, it then refuses to play anything else.
[later] seems to be 8 bit unsigned that's the sticky point. 16 bit signed mono files work.
