Topic: Can I trigger lighting effects with vdj8

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Can I set points of interest to trigger lighting scenes.

I run American dj mydmx to put together basic lighting shows and was wondering if I can set cue points in songs to trigger pre set lighting scenes.

I run vdj and mydmx on the same laptop, and they both connect via usb.

Or is there a workaround for this, or am I just wanting too much.

Thanks.

There is a plugin by SBDJ that worked on 7 and allowed you to send beat grid timing info to Freestyler.

However, I have a sneaky feeing this used a MIDI clock signal to do so - and at present there is no MIDI clock in VDJ 8.

Your sneaky feeling is incorrect ;)

So, a plugin is possible.

Do you think it's likely that one may be developed for mydmx.

It's not likely to be honest; I've never found mydmx to be particularly friendly when it comes to interfacing with other applications.

That's fair enough.

So freestyler might be an option in the future?

Freestyler works with v7 and I'll be releasing the v8 update shortly.

Wait a minute...are you saying there's no MIDI clock out in v8? I've been using that to send beats to Lumidesk in v7 and have aked support why it's sometimes off a bit. Their answer: Wait for v8, it will be much better.

The developer has said that it'll be "doing an Arnie" (it'll be back).
