Topic: Installing VDJ8 with old VDJ 7.X

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Before I jump into the deep end, can I install VDJ8 without overwriting my stable version of VDJ7.4? I don't want to commit until I know I can still safely play a gig while getting familiar with the new setup at home - little steps!

Both versions will run side by side without issues. You will be able to switch back and forth between the applications.

Yes for the software, but no for the controller, only one will work at a time.

make a copy of your VDJ Folder under Document Name it VirtualDJ 7

in the orginal Folder Clean all files in subfolder Devices, Mapper and Plugins
install V8
start V8 and test it.

to switchback and force
close V8 make a copy from the VirtualDJ Folder Name it VirtualDJ 8

when you are in Windows just go to the Registry and change the HomeFolder Varible to either V7 or V8 before you start Virtual DJ

under MAC just Delete VirtualDJ Folder under Dokuments and Copy either V7 or V8 Folder to as VirtualDJ Folder

Why would you want your controller to control two separate variations of the same software anyway?
