This sounds like a generic VDJ7 question, but the answer might be different for VDJ8.

I am looking to buy a maxed-out MacPro just to run VDJ.
My main focus is getting the maximum FPS out of HD video clips.
Although VDJ is way better at video than VDJ7 I still see lag when jumping to a random part of a clip (something I need to do a lot). That suggests the clip is not complete in memory and some sort of cache setting might fix that later.
At the moment, I am on a super maxed-out MacBook Air.

If I go for a MacPro, which customization will give me the best bang for the buck?
Number of cores, clock speed (these work against each other in Apple's customizer), lots of memory, more VRAM?

The latter two seem pretty obvious (doesn't hurt to have more), but the CPU specs are:
3.5GHz 6 cores
to
2.7GHz 12 cores

If VDJ8 does not take advantage of the extra cores, the more expensive option would then be slower, right?
