Topic: Mac still has high cpu usage

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I did a 4 hour live show last night with my mac (had second laptop setup as backup) similiar to v7 I had very high cpu numbers all night The cpu hovered around 75% all night I had my fan set to its highest speed or it certainly would have overheated and shut dow

When I run Vdj in windows on the same machine the cpu never gets above 30%

The software ran flawlessly all night

I have a 2010 macbook pro and yes by todays machines its a little slower but if I run Serato video on it the cpu doesnt get anywhere above 30% usage.

Any thoughts??

I also own a older 2010 Mac but the CPU itself is actual not much higher the with V7.

It is a little bit different to see how much CPU VDJ will take.
Please try to use iStat just for a test to see how much CPU will taken from VDJ itself.

The high heat seems to be related with the GPU and the missing hardware acc at the moment.
But i have received good vibs from DEV team and so i'm in a good mood this will be solved with 8.1.

But it seems they can't fix it for the moment on 8.0 :-)

Regarding the heating, please set skinFPS to 20.

Then try it again :-)

Music Video Output is VERY choppy when you change to 20.

DISREGARD, fixed itself on reboot.
