One of my favourite effects [ramp_delay] does not work with virtualdj8..All it does is stop the song.

Just confirmed this. Activating it results in silence.
It is a very old effect though (VDJ 5)....

what can I do...is there any other effects that can do the same?

dont think i played around with that effect, but i would guess it basically sets a ramp up time to make VirtualDJ play button act like a slow belt driven turntable start up?
you can change these settings in options, just search for ramp in the options, and you can change both ramp start and ramp stop time
(and you can map these to your controller too should you want.. )
that being said, i'm sure most all v7 plugins will be remade to work for v8 in no time ;)

No, it's an audio delay effect - like a repeating echo. You can set the amount of repeats (which gradually fade away) and you can also filter it and change the key.
romiestar, there are plenty of VSTs you could try. Some free ones here
