I'm thinking about buying a new laptop to use VDJ and one of the models I'm looking at (HP Envy 17t-j100) has "Beats Audio" listed as a feature.

I must admit I don't know much about Beats Audio, other than what I've heard about it in regards to overpriced headphones.

Does anyone here have an opinion on whether or not Beats Audio in a laptop would make any difference for DJing? I suppose if it only applies to the speakers it would not, but if it's related to the audio output jack that connects to a mixer, that's where I wonder what the feature might add.

No it won'r make a difference for several reasons. It's the speakers, not the sound board. And as a DJ you don't want/need any sound board that does it's own signal processing.

Pretty much this. Once you have an interface it doesn't matter. I had a HP M6 with beats audio, and honestly it was a pain in the ass. Made everything sound muddled for everyday listening. But for using VDJ, you'll be fine.
