Topic: Cheap lights for Facade?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Ok, I just ordered a facade http://www.zzounds.com/item--GNDGSLSFC the smaller table top one and am looking for some cheap lights (around $30) to hold me over until my drums are payed off in a couple months. I was looking at 2 possible solutions http://www.ebay.com/itm/270782523467?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 is one long tube or I was thinking maybe just getting 6 of http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0065O9QZK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2Q9RHC4PM3Y5Z and then stacking 3x3 with a little tape and cardboard. Suggestions please? Oh btw, they have to be safe for epileptics

The foam stick will not be bright enough, I have one and the watch batteries will die after a few hours.

Go with the LED tube or go with LED strip lights- like I did.

Im using the SMD5050 30LED per Meter, the 15 LED per Meter are good enough but I wanted bright, even in day light:

Thanks for the input! I went ahead last night and ordered the "rainbow tube" that I posted from ebay, it'll leave about 8 inches per side of the facade but I'm hoping that won't be a problem (also hoping for multiple modes, the seller didn't give much detail). If I come up on a little more money soon I might get some of those strips too, looks awesome.

Will try and get my tables from my moms and take some pics when it arrives here, will definitely do more pics at my gig on the 18th next month;^]

Ikea sells LED strip lighting complete with a colour changer for about $40. You can get it either in 4 rigid sections, or 1 long flexible tube. I believe it is about a metre in length. I picked up one and keep it in my kit as accent lighting for whatever booths I happen to be playing in and it works well.

Thanks, one question though, will I need a second power supply if I cut it to do each window separate? Or will I be better off to not cut and do it as one long strip?

I used some old ribbon cable from a PC's IDE cable to connect the strips, a little cheaper and its permanent. Yes you will need to cut each section and solder. Try not to heat up the LED strip too much.

Clip connectors are a real pain, gonna take it to my dad & let him solder the connection (my hands are not steady enough), and probably not gonna use the rainbow tube, but I wanted to see how it looked. The lights on the wall are a cheap tripod laser from Amazon.
